Description
On August 3, 2026, a fire broke out at Korin-in, a sub-temple (tatchu) of Kodaiji in Higashiyama, Kyoto. A two-story wooden reception facility of about 60 square meters was destroyed. The fire was reported around 6:30 p.m. No injuries were reported, and there was no spread to adjacent temple buildings or cultural properties. Kodaiji was founded in 1606 by Kita no Mandokoro (Nene) to honor Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Police and Kyoto City Fire Department are investigating the cause.
