Why this site exists

Temple and shrine fires are often reported locally and then hard to find again. This site was created to gather those documented incidents in one place—with maps, dates, locations, and cited sources—so anyone can see what happened without hunting through scattered news. The aim is to document first and discuss second, not to push a particular explanation for why fires occur.
