Saiko-ji 火災

概要

On December 28, 2025, a fire destroyed four buildings at Saiko-ji in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture, including the main hall and a two-story kuri. The fire was discovered around 3:40 a.m. by a security guard responding to an alarm. One body was found in the kuri; the 90-year-old head priest who lived there could not be reached. A monk in another building escaped safely. Police are investigating the identity of the deceased and the cause of the fire.
