概要

On May 16, 2026, a fire broke out at Daiho-ji, a Nichiren Buddhist temple in central Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, founded in 1453. The main hall, kuri, and memorial hall were destroyed and damage spread to 18 buildings including neighboring structures. Four residents escaped safely. Important cultural property artworks by Hasegawa Tohaku housed at the Takaoka Art Museum were unharmed. Fire officials later said electrical wiring near the kuri may have been involved; the cause remains under investigation.
